BackUPMAX Remote Security Suite
(Currently available only in BackUPMAX Personal Edition)
BackUPMAX is the first and only Online Backup Service to offer you a new level of protection for your computer and your data. The BackUPMAX Remote Security Suite is your personal watchdog for your computer and its data.
If your computer is lost or stolen, you can log into your BackUPMAX account from any computer using just a web browser. You will then be able to activate the Remote Security Suite to do any or all of the following:
Erase Sensitive Data - You can order your computer to erase files on your computer that have been backed up to BackUPMAX. You can even shred files with military-level DoD 5220.22-M file shredding technology that cannot be reversed. This prevents your sensitive data from falling into the wrong hands. Data will not be erased from the BackUPMAX Data Center.
Take Pictures & Record Sound - The Remote Security Suite can activate your computer's built-in camera and microphone, recording in one minute segments and uploading to your BackUPMAX account. This lets you see and hear who is using your computer.
Send Technical Details - Your computer will collect and send to your BackUPMAX account technical information about its environment, including networks to which it is connected, and other data that might help zero in on who is using your computer.
Help Track a Stolen Computer - Using a unique geolocation technology that does not require a GPS in your computer, the Remote Security Suite collects and transmits location information. You can then look up this information in public databases to help isolate your computer's location. (Geolocation services are not exact, and depend on the reliability of the databases.)
Freeze Normal BackUPMAX Operations - This prevents a computer thief from accessing your BackUPMAX account.
All the data collected by your computer will be transmitted and stored in your BackUPMAX account, accessible with a web browser.
